OUR APPROACH
We believe our democracy is the best vehicle to transform our society because we believe in the power of people to solve our big problems. In a democracy, the people can change their circumstances and systems without revolution and without violence. Instead, people can create change by organizing and raising up their voices to demand something different. Whether it’s transforming our criminal legal system, ending gun violence or saving our planet, the power is in our hands. Our punitive justice system could never exist if the power held by the tens of millions of people impacted by it was unleashed at the ballot box.
However, that power is not equally distributed and is concentrated in the hands of too few. That’s why we invest in the communities and leaders so that they have the power, the infrastructure, and the solutions to solve our big problems.
